First Friday Mural Tour & EUGfun! Concert
Friday, August 4, 5:30 – 10 p.m.
Downtown Eugene, West Broadway and Charnelton
Presented with Lane Arts Council
In conjunction with the regularly scheduled First Friday ArtWalk, Lane Arts Council presents the First Friday Mural Tour. Follow along this guided downtown walking tour hosted by Paul Godin of the 20×21 EUG Mural Project. You will visit several of the newest murals painted during Eugene Walls, plus a few others created over the past year. Many of the artists will be on site to speak about their work.
The tour begins at 5:30pm at the intersection of West Broadway and Charnelton in downtown Eugene. Participants can also explore the downtown galleries and art venues to see work by local and regional artists from 5:30-8pm as a part of the First Friday ArtWalk.
To sweeten the celebration, EUGfun! is closing down the streets at the intersection of West Broadway and Charnelton to host two concerts. Tony Glausi with accompanying band will play from 6-7:30pm, and Portland-based Chanti Darling, self-described as “future funktified post R&B(oogie),” will take the stage from 8-10pm. The concert area will also feature live screen printing of 20×21 EUG Mural Project merchandise on site by Threadbare Print House and Design; cuisine by various food carts and a beer/drink garden; work for sale by local artists; and other fun activities. ArtCity, a collaborative community of artists working to sustain an integrated multidisciplinary studio, will be creating art during the event.
Full details about the event can be found at www.lanearts.org. This event is sponsored by Lane Arts Council, City of Eugene Cultural Services, EUGfun!, 20×21 EUG Mural Project, The Duck Store and Eugene Magazine.
